Arjun Reddy is a passionate, emotional romance which portrays how destructive a broken heart can be for the Romeo of the story. It is a modern-day Devdas romance which is arrogant and beautiful

Rating: 4/5

Arjun Reddy defines relationships in the widest, genuine manner. Though some people may raise controversial statements regarding few scenes, if we look into it deeper and analyze it from every side rather than just objectifying a specific idea of dos and don’ts, it will definitely be balancing and justified.

Arjun Reddy, who is short-tempered and an academic rank holder in MBBS, falls in love with Preethy, an ordinary, middle-class girl. Even after a highly successful profile, Preethy’s family gets her married to someone else. Following the incident, heartbroken Arjun gets addicted to alcohol and drugs, and lives a self-destructive life out of pain and frustration.

Arjun Reddy is one of the best love stories. Little less people speak of relationships that are no fairy tale. When films today are putting fancy impractical gestures to bring out a true love story kind of thing, Arjun Reddy captures the natural, real-life emotions. It portrays a relationship in which both people are responsible equally, transparent, and insane for each other. A tad it pokes today’s relationship theories which put a kind of contractual agreement like constant conversations, giving each other complete freedom of whatever they do (though it must be there to an extent), gambling with unsure emotions, etc.

It is a winsome love story that is really close to life, but far from today’s unsure, timorous, irresolute relationships which are inconsistent like a seesaw.

Arjun Reddy

Story and Script

A story that tends to be one of a kind and doesn’t care about others. It is intense and powerful, unafraid of reception. Supported by a screenplay written by Sandeep Reddy Vanga that just concentrates on the heads over heels love of Arjun and Preethy and their intimacy. The non-linear storytelling holds itself strongly to various emotions that the characters go through. It doesn’t leave a loose end anywhere, giving us a terrific screenplay.

Directed and written by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Arjun Reddy, the modern-day version of ‘Devdas’ has been knitted and concocted in a broad and profound manner. It defines characters’ briefly, rather than just highlighting protagonists. It is properly steered and connects to the audience in a specific way. It does justice to the premise of ‘Devdas’ and is definitely a great adaptation. The director knows how to bring such a love story that carries a romantic relationship tied with thin threads, which if not handled properly may break and spread a negative impact.

Vijay Devarakonda is the crux of this film. He gets into the skin of the character and does a marvelous job. He doesn’t seem to be pretending to be Arjun Reddy and aces each and every emotion with utmost perfection.
Shalini Pandey as Preethy also is adorbs and endearing. The chemistry both share is sparkling and beautiful.

Rahul Ramakrishna as Shiva portrayed the beautiful friendship between Arjun and him. The torchbearer of broken Arjun, Shiva is an inspiring, true friend, someone whom we all may wish for.

With some remarkable performances, Arjun Reddy will definitely be a break for them.

Cinematography by Raj Thota is decent. It has all the elements of fine cinematography but is not emotionally captivating. It doesn’t bear the emotional weight of the film and so fails in adding its part to it. But if put aside such a fact, it does justice to the film since the frames and technical rules of cinematography are obeyed properly.

Music/Background Score

Music by Radhan is an embellisher. It fits each and every moment and uplifts the scenes with intense emotions. A magnificent work. It garnishes the entire film and adds soul to the beautiful storyline.

Background score by Harshavardhan and Rameshwar is breathtaking. The hair raising BGMs support the film’s mass elements and heart-touching, soothing score act as the backbone of the saccharine scenes.
Music and BGM score ten on ten.

Arjun Reddy is a film that needs to be seen with a broader mind. It won’t make an effect on people who have not felt an insane love for someone in their lives. It is passionate, intense, and truly wonderful. With his debut film itself, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has hit the ball out of the park.
